Dr. Robson, MDCM, MSc, FRCP(C) is the Principal Advisor for Healthcare System Safety and Accountability in Canada and recently served as the Chief Patient Safety Officer at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority for six years.  After obtaining a Master’s degree in Human Factors and System Safety from Lund University in Sweden, he designed a two-day workshop on systemic non-linear analysis of critical incidents and other healthcare adverse events.

Rob trained as a specialist emergency physician and continues to practice as a primary care physician in diverse settings such as First Nations communities on Vancouver Island, a refuge clinic in Hamilton, and a university Student Wellness Centre. Dr. Robson is Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences of the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Health Sciences. He has worked for twenty years as a healthcare mediator in Canada and the US.

Rob is interested in trying to direct traffic at the tangled intersection of complexity science, conflict engagement, accountability, and patient safety. He has a particular interest in the development of qualitative methods for performance assessment in complex adaptive systems.
