AmandaRaffoulAmanda Raffoul is a MSc Candidate in the School of Public Health and Health Systems at the University of Waterloo, working under the supervision of Dr. Sharon Kirkpatrick. Her research interests involve psychosocial contributors to weight status, such as dieting, body image, and weight bias, and how they influence our overall health. She is currently investigating patterns of co-occurrence between dieting and various health-compromising behaviours among adolescent girls in a national school-based study, and works with Dr. Kirkpatrick in investigating the complexities of nutrition that impact dietary assessment.
Amanda has extensive community-based experience in shared eating disorder and obesity prevention, and is interested in applying complexity theory to explore overlap between their risk factors. She is the co-chair of the Canadian Obesity Network – Students and New Professionals (CON-SNP) chapter at the University of Waterloo, and works closely with the regional YWCA in facilitating local girls’ groups.
